She completed her general surgery residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, where she gained extensive experience in breast, gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
