Rex Rizaldo, APRN, is a board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in critical care medicine and cardiac electrophysiology. His health care journey began in nursing school, where a passion for cardiology led him from registered nurse to nurse practitioner. His subspecialty focuses on the heart’s electrical system, diagnosing and managing arrhythmias.

Rizaldo is dedicated to serving as a health care ally for patients and families, working closely with them to ensure quality care. He values open communication and a team-based approach, always centering care around each patient’s unique needs and goals. He is committed to helping patients feel better and improve their overall well-being.

He holds advanced certifications in adult-gerontology acute care, critical care nursing and cardiovascular nursing. Licensed in Illinois and Missouri as an advanced practice nurse and registered nurse, he also holds certifications in advanced cardiovascular life support, basic life support and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale. Rizaldo is an active member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

His experience includes roles as a cardiac catheterization lab nurse, intensive care unit nurse and clinical instructor. He has cared for patients with complex cardiac and critical care needs, performed advanced procedures and worked with multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes.

Rizaldo earned a Master of Science in nursing, specializing in adult-gerontology acute care, from Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College in St. Louis, where he was recognized for clinical excellence. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Western Mindanao State University, in Zamboanga City, Philippines.

Outside of work, Rizaldo enjoys family meals and movie nights with his wife and daughter, gardening and supporting youth literacy in his community.
