Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, and completed a combined internal medicine and pediatrics residency at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he also served as chief resident. Board-certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics, he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
