Donita Schrey, APRN, brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her role as a board-certified nurse practitioner. With extensive experience in cardiovascular medicine, Schrey is known for her patient-centered approach and dedication to fostering meaningful connections with those in her care.

Her nursing journey began in intensive care, where she developed a strong foundation in critical care practices. After more than a decade as a registered nurse, Schrey advanced her career to become a nurse practitioner, focusing on both inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular health. She has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement personalized treatment plans, always prioritizing the unique needs of each patient.

Schrey is passionate about education and prevention, guiding patients to make informed choices about their health and wellness. Her expertise includes high-risk patient management, diagnostic evaluation and the integration of new technologies to enhance care delivery. She played a pivotal role in launching a specialized clinic for congestive heart failure and contributed to the adoption of electronic health records to streamline patient services.

In addition to her clinical work, Schrey has mentored new nurses and nurse practitioner students by sharing her knowledge and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals. She has also provided outreach services throughout central and southern Illinois, expanding access to quality cardiovascular care in underserved areas.

Schrey holds a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind. She remains committed to advancing her expertise and delivering exceptional care to every patient.
