Dr. Austin Mueller is a board-qualified podiatric physician advanced training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery with an emphasis on sport-related injuries. He is passionate about helping patients regain mobility and live pain-free through personalized, patient-centered care.

A Belleville, Illinois, native, Dr. Mueller began his medical journey volunteering at Memorial Hospital while attending Althoff Catholic High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in integrative biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he also served as a mentor for at-risk youth and a personal assistant for students with disabilities. He went on to earn his doctorate from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in North Chicago. Dr. Mueller completed his surgical residency at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois, where he served as chief resident and received high-volume training in rearfoot and ankle procedures, including total ankle replacements.

Dr. Mueller treats a full spectrum of podiatric conditions, including ankle and heel pain, sprains, Achilles ruptures, fractures, bunions, hammertoes, flatfoot and cavus deformities. He has extensive experience with ankle arthroscopy, total ankle replacements and fusion procedures. He also provides diabetic foot care, wound treatment and general foot care such as ingrown toenail removal.

He believes in starting with conservative treatment and works closely with patients to ensure they are well-informed and confident in their care decisions. “Mobility is a gift we often take for granted,” Dr. Mueller said. “Being able to help people restore that function is one of the greatest privileges of my career.”

Dr. Mueller married his high school sweetheart, and the couple awaits their first child. They live with their Bernese mountain dog, Griffey. In his free time, Dr. Mueller enjoys backyard grilling, cheering on St. Louis sports teams, playing pickleball and tennis, card collecting and weightlifting.
